Cut Rose Care
Processing & Holding
When you receive your roses, you must follow these steps:
- Leave the hard paper or plastic inner rose sleeve intact around the roses until fully processed and brought down to cooler temperature.
- Strip only the foliage that will fall below the solution level.
- Re-cut 1 ˝" – 2" off the bottom of the bunch. Underwater cutting in clean water is ideal if possible.
- Process your flowers in clean buckets using cold water (33°-38°) – not just cold tap water.
- We recommend processing all roses using Chrysal Professional #1 formula pre-treatment for a minimum of 18 hours.
- Use a holding solution for storing roses – Chrysal Professional #2, Floralife Hydraflor/100 or Aquahold. We do not recommend regular Floralife as a holding solution.
- Store roses in a temperature controlled environment – 35 degrees is ideal.
Vase or arrangement solution
- Use a full load flower food solution for roses – Chrysal Professional #3, Aquaplus, Floralife Original or Floralife Crystal Clear.
- If you are using foam, soak your foam in the flower food solution as well.
- Make sure all solutions are mixed and dosed correctly! Too little solution is more harmful to the flowers than using none at all.
